Who We Are
IKON is a community of people that utilize creativity, innovation, and action to impact the world we inhabit. IKON is not an event or a place, but rather a community on a journey to explore relationship with God, others and The City. We don't pretend to have all the answers, but we do believe that the pursuit is best understood within community. Our values of justice, beauty, community, faith, and generosity encourage us to seek and explore what it means to follow Jesus and help others to do the same.
IKON is a new church in San Francisco. The dream is to be a different kind of community that would unite people with Jesus to change the world they inhabit. We believe that God has called us to be a part of his greater hope for the world by restoring things back to the way they were always meant to be, a place where there will be no more tears, no more death or mourning, crying or pain. However, in order for us to accomplish this, we must be pursuing life in the way of Jesus. It is ultimately the hope that he brings through his resurrection that makes renewal possible in our own lives and throughout the world.
We gather weekly at the San Francisco Chronicle Building (5th and Mission at 11a) to respond to God through singing/art, the story of Scripture and to center our lives around the Eucharist. We consider this our inhale, the beginning of our week. We also gather in smaller Neighborhood Groups, Classes and Experiences that we consider to be the exhale, helping us to live into this call to unite people with Jesus.
